Nex-Tech Recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month with Employee-Driven Charity Donations

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Nex-Tech provided employees with resources, education, and opportunities to focus on mental well-being. The company continues to support employees through its Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which offers confidential counseling services, financial and legal assistance, and support for stress management and work-life balance. Additional mental health and urgent care resources are also available through Nex-Tech’s health insurance and benefits providers.

As part of the month’s activities, Nex-Tech’s Care Committee organized a wellness workshop led by a Nex-Tech employee who is also a certified yoga teacher. The session included guided meditation and journaling, giving employees practical techniques to relax, reflect, and recharge during the workday. Additionally, the Committee shared information regarding job burnout to help employees recognize signs of stress and explore healthy ways to manage it.

Nex-Tech employees also received access to a self-care video prepared by James Gerstner, Development Officer for High Plains Mental Health Center. The video provided additional encouragement and guidance to help employees prioritize their mental health and overall well-being.

Throughout May, monetary donations were collected from employees, resulting in a combined contribution of $1,365. Nex-Tech pledged to match these donations, bringing the total to $2,730. Employees voted on charities recommended by their peers, and Camber Children’s Mental Health Services and High Plains Mental Health Center’s Norton Branch Office were chosen as the recipients of the donations.

“Your generosity helps ensure that children in our community have access to the compassionate mental health care they deserve. Your support strengthens our ability to provide a safe, therapeutic environment where young people can heal, build resilience, and move toward brighter futures.

Craig Poe, High Plains Mental Health Center CEO, shared the following: “Thank you so much to Nex-Tech employees for their generous support of High Plains Mental Health Center and community mental health services. We appreciate Nex-Tech’s commitment to building stronger communities in rural Kansas. This support will benefit our efforts to expand our footprint in Norton County as we move into a larger office building later this year. This move will allow us room to grow, as we look toward enhancing access to behavioral healthcare services in Northwest Kansas.”
