Nine Suspects Remain at Large After Traffic Stop on I-70 in Sherman County

SHERMAN COUNTY, Kan. --- A large law enforcement search continued into Tuesday evening after nine suspects fled on foot following an attempted traffic stop on Interstate 70 in eastern Sherman County.
NWKS Radio has been following this developing story throughout the day.
According to information provided by law enforcement, officers attempted a traffic stop around 12:44 p.m cdt. on Interstate 70 near Sherman County Road 26. During the stop, nine suspects fled the scene on foot, scattering in both the north and south directions.
Authorities immediately launched a search of the area and warned nearby residents to remain alert. Law enforcement advised that the suspects may be dangerous and could attempt to steal weapons, personal property, or vehicles.
By 2:44 p.m. cdt, NWKS Radio had not received any additional information or suspect descriptions from law enforcement. Authorities continued searching the area and indicated they would release more information as it became available.
An update at 4:15 p.m cdt. stated that law enforcement officers remained focused on the area near mile marker 24 on Interstate 70 and Sherman County Road 26, just south of the interstate. Officials said the suspects are believed to be Hispanic males and asked anyone who sees individuals walking in the area or notices suspicious vehicles to call 911 immediately.
As of 6:35 p.m cdt., all nine suspects remained at large. Law enforcement continued searching the same area near Interstate 70 mile marker 24 and Sherman County Road 26. Residents are urged to report any suspicious people or vehicles that appear out of place by calling 911.
