Northwest Kansas Foundation for Hope is once again bringing the community together in a big way with its annual 12 Days of Hope fundraiser, running December 1 through December 12. Jennifer Collins and Darci Kauffman joined Joel Navarro on 100.3 The Ride to share how this beloved event continues to change lives across our region.
The Foundation was created in 2009 by a group of local Colby women who recognized a profound need: helping cancer patients in northwest Kansas manage the unexpected and overwhelming expenses that come with treatment. The organization serves nine counties, providing direct financial assistance for travel, lodging, meals, and other treatment-related costs that insurance doesn’t cover. Their goal is simple and powerful—helping families focus on healing instead of hardship.
Jennifer shared that she personally received a grant in 2012 after her own cancer diagnosis, experiencing firsthand the relief this support brings. Just this past year, the Foundation awarded more than 50 grants, and eligible patients can apply multiple times as needs arise.

The 12 Days of Hope fundraiser is the organization’s biggest event of the year. Local businesses and individuals donate items for an online auction, giving bidders a fun way to support the mission while doing a little Christmas shopping. From December 1 through the 12th, supporters can browse and bid on dozens of great items, all donated by people across the nine-county region. Winning bidders can pick up their items on December 13, just in time to wrap and place under the tree.
Darci says the auction is fast-paced, competitive, and a lot of fun—especially for those who love last-minute bidding battles. Every dollar raised stays local and directly helps cancer patients across northwest Kansas.

To participate in the auction, visit nwks-hope.org or follow Northwest Kansas Foundation for Hope on Facebook, where the auction link is easily accessible.
For anyone needing assistance, grant applications are available at grants@nwks-hope.org. Board members can also be contacted through the Foundation website, and the organization can be reached by phone at 785-443-0395.
The Northwest Kansas Foundation for Hope continues to be a vital resource for families navigating the financial strain of cancer treatment. Their 12 Days of Hope fundraiser offers a meaningful way for the community to rally together and support neighbors who need it most.
