The eighth-ranked Colby Community College volleyball team needed five sets, but extended its winning streak to seven Wednesday night with a road victory over Cloud County. After splitting the first four sets, the Lady Trojans took the decisive fifth set 15-9, improving to 22-and-4 on the season. Up next, a massive top-ten showdown with seventh-ranked Dodge City, featuring the top two teams in the Jayhawk Conference.

Kansas came up short in exhibition basketball Wednesday night, falling to Louisville, 89-83, at Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks led by one at halftime, but Louisville caught fire from three-point range in the second half, building a double-digit lead. Kansas rallied to within two with just over two minutes remaining, but couldn't complete the comeback. Tre White led KU with 25 points, while Melvin Council Junior added 20 and freshman Tyran Stokes finished with 15. Up next, KU hosts second-ranked Duke Sunday afternoon in its final exhibition game.

Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper is back on the practice field after missing the first six games of the season following two domestic violence arrests in June. Cooper, who faces multiple charges, including felony assault by strangulation, says he's worked to improve himself and takes responsibility, adding there are no excuses. The NFL removed Cooper from the commissioner's exempt list last week, although its investigation remains ongoing. Cooper is eligible to return Sunday when the 4-and-2 Broncos visit Arizona.

Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Allen Bailey has died at the age of 37. Bailey was found dead Tuesday at his Florida home. An official cause of death has not been released. A third-round draft pick in 2011, Bailey spent eight seasons with Kansas City before finishing his career in Atlanta, recording 22 career sacks. Chiefs coach Andy Reid called Bailey one of his favorite players, while Patrick Mahomes remembered him as a great teammate and an important part of the locker room.
