The Oakley Lady Plainsmen VB defeated Cheylin in three sets to capture their own tournament title this past Saturday. Decatur Community also won their own VB tournament Saturday, finishing 4-0 on the day.



Colby CC volleyball made quick work of Pratt CC Saturday afternoon as the Lady Trojans swept the Beavers. 3-0. CCC has won 12 of their last 13 matches and are now 17-4 overall & 8-1 in conference. Colby heads to Garden City on Wednesday.

The Chiefs stayed unbeaten Sunday, edging the Raiders 30-27 in Las Vegas. Patrick Mahomes threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, while Kenneth Walker III rushed for 177 yards and two scores, including both of Kansas City’s late fourth-quarter touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Broncos fell to 2-and-2 with a 24-14 loss at San Francisco. Bo Nix threw for 214 yards and a touchdown to Jaylen Waddle, but the 49ers pulled away in the second half behind Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and a late 56-yard touchdown catch by George Kittle.


COLLEGE FB

Kansas rolled past Middle Tennessee 55-0, piling up more than 700 yards of offense and improving to 2-and-2. Nebraska stayed unbeaten with a 48-23 win over Maryland, overcoming an early 16-7 deficit as Anthony Colandrea accounted for four touchdowns. The Huskers are now 5-and-0 for the first time since 2016. Meanwhile, Colorado fell to 12th-ranked Texas Tech 29-7. The Buffs led 7-3 at halftime, but the Red Raiders scored 26 unanswered in the second half, dropping Colorado to 2-and-3.


COLLEGE HOOPS

Kansas basketball is getting Melvin Council Junior back for the upcoming season. The Jayhawks announced Council will return after receiving a preliminary injunction against the NCAA that allows him to play. Council was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year last season, averaging 12.7 points and 5.1 assists per game. Bill Self says Council will begin practicing immediately, giving KU another experienced piece heading into the season.
