Colby CC volleyball pushed its winning streak to nine straight with a crisp 3-0 sweep of Seward County last night. CCC won 25-20, 25-22 & 25-21. The 8th-ranked Lady Trojans are now 14-3 on the season and remain perfect in KJCCC play. Colby will host Cloud County Saturday at the Colby Events Center.

BASEBALL

The Rockies were unable to make it two straight Wednesday night, falling to San Diego 9-3 at Coors Field. Padres rookie Ethan Salas hit the first two home runs of his major league career, becoming the youngest catcher ever with a multi-homer game. Kyle Karros provided the big hit for Colorado with a two-run homer, but starter Mason Adams allowed six runs over four-and-a-third innings. The series wraps up this afternoon in Denver.

The Royals snapped their three-game losing streak Wednesday night, beating Houston 5-2. John Rave hit a two-run homer, while Michael Massey had three hits, including a solo shot as part of a three-run eighth inning. Daniel Lynch tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win. Kansas City will go for the series win tonight with Seth Lugo on the mound. First pitch is at 6:15 CT. Listen on KXXX.

NFL

Some good news on the injury front for the Chiefs. Rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane is on track to play Sunday night against Indianapolis after aggravating his right shoulder in Monday’s win over Denver. Delane was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, and Andy Reid says there’s a pretty good chance he’ll play. Meanwhile, linebacker Cooper McDonald has been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury and will miss at least four games.

A pair of 1-and-0 teams square off tonight on Thursday Night Football, as the Detroit Lions visit the Buffalo Bills in game one of the Week Two slate. Detroit opened with a 31-30 win over New Orleans, while Josh Allen and the Bills scored 36 in a Week One win at Houston. It will also mark the first regular-season game at Buffalo’s new Highmark Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:15 Mountain on Prime Video.
