Seventh-ranked Colby Community College volleyball came up just short on the road Saturday, falling to Dodge City in a five-set battle, 3-2. The loss snaps the Trojans’ 10-game winning streak and gives Colby its first conference loss of the season. CCC returns home to host Butler on Wednesday.

A perfect Sunday for the Chiefs and Broncos. Kansas City improved to 3-and-0 with a 24-10 win at Miami, as Patrick Mahomes threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns and Kenneth Walker scored twice. Meanwhile, Denver pulled off a wild 30-26 comeback win over the Rams after trailing 16-0 at halftime. Talanoa Hufanga had a pick-six and then intercepted Matthew Stafford again in the closing seconds, while Bo Nix scored the go-ahead touchdown with 48 seconds left. The Broncos improve to 2- 1.

Kansas State suffered its first loss of the season, falling at Cincinnati 31-26 after leading 17-10 at halftime. Avery Johnson threw for 292 yards, but the Wildcats were outscored 21-9 in the second half. Nebraska stayed unbeaten, moving to 4-and-0 with a 31-13 win at Michigan State. Anthony Colandrea threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns as the Huskers won their Big Ten opener. And Colorado dropped its second straight, falling at Baylor 23-13 to slip to 2-and-2.

BASEBALL

The baseball season is officially over for the Royals and Rockies. Kansas City closed things out with a 3-2 win over Cleveland Sunday, finishing the year 69-and-93 after dropping the first two games of the weekend series. Meanwhile, Colorado took one of three from the White Sox, winning 9-6 Saturday before falling 4-2 in Sunday’s finale. The Rockies finish 58-and-104, their fourth consecutive 100-loss season.
