Annual Meal Giveaway Now Accepting Anonymous Nominations Through Nov. 22

Thanksgiving should be a time of warmth, family, and good food—but for many, it’s a holiday that comes with stress instead of joy. NWKS Radio and Vap Construction know that reality all too well, which is why this partnership has grown into one of our favorite annual traditions: giving away a complete Thanksgiving feast to families who deserve a little extra love and support.
This year, we’re once again accepting anonymous nominations to help us choose two families—one in Atwood, and one in Colby—who will receive everything they need for a full Thanksgiving meal.. And yes—we deliver the food right to their door in time for the holiday.
Why It Matters
Across the U.S., millions of families face food insecurity each year. Rising grocery prices, unexpected bills, medical costs—any of these things can turn a holiday meal into a financial burden. But this giveaway isn’t just for families facing hardship. It’s also an opportunity to honor families who spend their time supporting others—coaches, volunteers, caregivers, neighbors — the quiet helpers who make Northwest Kansas such a special place to live.
Because need doesn’t always look like struggle. Sometimes it looks like service.

A Tradition Rooted in Community
Every year, the NWKS Radio staff takes the time to personally shop for all the ingredients — the turkey or ham, the stuffing, the potatoes, rolls, pie, and all the little extras that make Thanksgiving special. Then they hit the road, delivering holiday joy right to the homes of the chosen family in Colby. while Vap Construction does the same in Atwood.
“We love being part of this,” says the NWKS team. “It’s one of the things that reminds us why local radio matters — because it’s personal, it’s community-focused, and it brings people together.”
Help Us Spread the Word
Please share our social posts, tell your coworkers, message a friend, or nominate someone quietly and confidently. You never know who might be grateful for a little help or a heartfelt recognition this holiday season.
It only takes a minute to nominate. But it could mean a holiday they'll never forget.
