The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to an injury crash Monday evening in Thomas County.
According to the crash log, the accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on November 3, 2025, on Interstate 70 westbound near mile marker 46, about three-quarters of a mile west of County Road 11.
Troopers say a 2026 Freight Tractor, driven by 60-year-old Robert J. Bellis of Kansas City, Missouri, drifted off the road and overcorrected while trying to return to the highway. The movement caused the hitch connecting the second trailer to break, shifting the load and causing the vehicle to tip onto its passenger side.
Bellis was wearing a seatbelt and suffered suspected minor injuries. He was transported to Citizen Medical Center for treatment.
The truck and its two attached Hyundai trailers, both registered in Oklahoma, were removed from the scene by R&M Repair.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
