Palco Man Fatally Injured in Vehicle Crash Wednesday

A fatal crash was reported Wednesday morning in Graham County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.


The crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. September 30th on U.S. 24 Highway, about three miles east of the U.S. 283 and U.S. 24 junction.


According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash report, a 2006 Pontiac Montana was traveling westbound on U.S. 24 when, for an unknown reason, it left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle continued into a pasture, where it rolled, ejecting the driver.


The driver was identified as 67-year-old Robert L. Heller of Palco. Heller suffered fatal injuries and was transported to Steinmetz Funeral Home.


The crash report indicates Heller was not wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.
