Planes, pancakes, emergency vehicles and plenty of family fun are all on the flight plan this Saturday in Goodland!
Runway Revelry returns to the Goodland Airport on Saturday, August 22, giving the public a chance to get an up-close look at aviation while celebrating America, aviation and local emergency responders.
The event runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mountain Time and is free to attend.
Jessica with Sherman County Community Development joined NWKS Radio to talk about the event, which is put together in collaboration with Butterfly Aviation. She said the goal is to bring the community to the airport and give families a chance to see everything happening there.

Visitors will be able to walk around the airport, see a variety of aircraft, visit with pilots and check out some of the hangars. Several aircraft are expected to fly in for the event, including classic Cessna 195s, agricultural aircraft and warbirds.
And you'll want to arrive hungry!
The morning starts with a free pancake breakfast, with the Daughters of the American Revolution helping cook and serve this year. L&T Family Restaurant, located inside the airport terminal building, will also be open.
Throughout the morning, DJ Andrew Melia will provide music while visitors explore the aircraft and displays.
Local emergency responders are also a big part of Runway Revelry. The Goodland Police Department, Sherman County Sheriff's Department, EMS and fire department have all been invited to participate. Emergency vehicles are expected to be on display, giving kids a chance to get a closer look and visit with the people who respond when help is needed. EagleMed may also have an aircraft on display if it is available.
One of the more unusual activities begins at 9:30 a.m. with a flour bombing contest.
And yes, that's flour as in the kind you bake with!

Participating aircraft will fly over a designated target and attempt to drop carefully measured bags of flour as close to the target as possible.
Other activities planned during the day include an RC airplane demonstration by Kenny Sanderson and several aircraft flybys.
Another highlight will be a visit from the Commemorative Air Force Cimarron Strip Wing. An aircraft will be on display, and visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase rides. According to Jessica, rides are expected to start around $100 per person, with pricing varying depending on the flight and number of passengers.
There will be plenty for younger aviation fans, too. Kids can enjoy temporary airplane tattoos, activities from the High Plains Museum and the chance to see airplanes up close. Some pilots may even allow kids to sit inside their aircraft.
Of course, a morning at the airport needs some food and treats. Several vendors are expected to be set up near the runway, including J-L's Tropical Snow, Filthy Fizz and The Cooking Mama.
Visitors should park in front of the terminal building and enter through the terminal before heading out to the event area.
Runway Revelry happens Saturday, August 22, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mountain Time at the Goodland Airport.
Whether you're an aviation enthusiast, have kids who love airplanes and emergency vehicles, or just want to grab some pancakes and enjoy a Saturday morning in Goodland, Runway Revelry offers a chance to see the Goodland Airport from a whole new perspective.
And keep your eyes on the sky — you never know what might be flying in!
