Smoke could be seen billowing above the middle of Colby early afternoon, Sunday, March 8th, as the Colby Fire Department responded to a reported fire behind a home in the 200 block of South Cleveland.

Fire crews arrived on scene and temporarily blocked off the 200 block of South Cleveland to allow fire trucks access and to run a hose line from a nearby fire hydrant. The street remained closed for less than two hours while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.


According to the Colby Fire Department, the fire damaged a fence and a shed located near the alley behind the home. Fortunately, no homes in the area were damaged.


Emergency medical services were not called to the scene, and no injuries were reported.


Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguish it. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
