Summer Sports Underway and Fall Sports Quickly Approaching for Goodland USD 352

Marty Lehman 6-30-26

Marty Lehman, Athletic Director for USD 352 Goodland Schools, joined the Good Neighbor Hour to discuss recent happenings in the world of high school summer sports for the Cowboys and Cowgirls of Goodland.

The first topic of conversation was about the success so far of the summer weights program. Led by a wide variety of coaches and community members, both high schoolers and junior high kids can lift and get a good workout. High School lifts bright and early at 6 am, with Junior High to follow.

Next, Lehman highlighted the busyness of the summer season with many different sports going at once, including fall, winter, and spring sports.

"Two days of the week go towards fall sports, two days go to winter sports, of course you have baseball and softball doing their thing, junior golf, tennis lessons, everybody's going everywhere."

Moratorium is this week, meaning no sports can have practices and no weightlifting can take place. This gives kids a chance to recharge and refresh for the last half of the summer. Come July 19th, coaches can no longer be with their kids until the fall season officially starts on August 17th.

When asked about other important dates, Lehman noted that free physicals will be scheduled soon.

"We don't have those dates set yet. We're still getting with doctors about what times they can come in and do those...and they volunteer for all of that."

Make sure to follow Lehman on social media for Athletic Director updates as well as visiting their website, usd352.org for more details, schedules, and other information.
