Suspect in Custody Following Overnight Incident in Goodland


An overnight incident in Goodland that prompted road closures and a shelter-in-place advisory has been resolved.


According to the Goodland Police Department, the situation began Sunday evening, December 28, and required assistance from the Kansas Highway Patrol Special Response Team. Authorities had asked residents in the area of 4th and 5th Streets near Caldwell to remain in their homes while the incident was contained to a single household.


Several roads were temporarily closed, including Caldwell from 3rd to 5th and 4th Street from Clark to Cherry. Residents needing to leave the area were advised to contact dispatch during the closure.


An update released early Monday morning confirmed the suspect is now in custody, all roads have reopened, and no injuries were reported to officers or the suspect. Due to the ongoing investigation, no additional details are being released at this time.


Officials thanked the community for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
