Thomas County Sheriff's Office Alerts to New Scam in the Area

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook regarding a new scam that has been reported in the area. These scammers are leaving messages, posing as someone with the department, asking for you to call back.

If you get a voicemail from a "Sergeant David Ruskan", this is a scam. The Thomas County Sheriff's Office is not making these calls or leaving any messages.

The Sheriff's Office left a few reminders for if you get a scam call like this.

• Do not return the number provided in the message.

• Do not provide personal, financial, or identifying information.

• Do not send money or gift cards.

• If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office directly using a verified phone number.
