Two Injured in Thomas County Crash Tuesday Night

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday night in Thomas County that sent two Oakley residents to the hospital.
The crash occurred at 9:44 p.m. on August 26 along U.S. Highway 24, near mile marker 57.7, about 2.25 miles east of Highway K-25. According to the crash log, a 1994 GMC Sierra was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle entered the north ditch, continued northeast through a pasture, and came to rest against a fence.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Jesse Jacoby Coon of Oakley, was transported to Citizens Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Reports indicate he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 10-month-old Lucas Leo Craig Coon of Oakley, was also taken to Citizens Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Troopers noted that the child was properly restrained.
The GMC Sierra was removed from the scene by S&M Repair.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
