What's Happening This Week in the NWKS Radio Listening Area May 11, 2026


There’s a little bit of everything happening across the NWKS Radio listening area this week, from graduation celebrations and classic cars to community meals, game nights, farmers markets, and more.


The week kicks off Tuesday with Kansas Farm Bureau’s Energy Development & Landowner Meetings in Goodland, giving area farmers and ranchers a chance to learn more about wind, solar, transmission projects, and what they could mean for local communities. Also in Goodland, Goodland Regional Medical Center will celebrate Hospital Week with food trucks set up over the lunch hour featuring treats and meals from local vendors.


Tuesday evening, Brewster Schools will host a community meal and district update, giving families and community members a chance to hear about new additions and updates happening at the school district.


Looking for something fun later in the week? Game Night continues Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Colby Housing Authority, while the Carnegie Arts Center in Goodland hosts a Paint & Sip event Thursday night featuring “Teacup Florals.”


Friday and Saturday, car lovers will want to head to Atwood for the Early Rod Run. Friday also includes an Aging Well event at the Senior Progress Center in Colby, plus graduation ceremonies for both Fort Hays Tech Northwest and Colby Community College. CCC’s commencement ceremony takes place Friday evening at the Colby Event Center.


Saturday will be packed with graduation celebrations around the region including Brewster 8th Grade Graduation, Brewster High School Graduation, Decatur County Graduation, and Goodland Graduation. The Thomas County Farmers Market also returns Saturday morning at Fike Park in Colby.


Freedom Hall in Goodland will wrap up graduation weekend with an after-party dance night Saturday evening into Sunday morning.


Then on Monday, the Thomas County USDA Commodity Distribution will take place at the Senior Progress Center in Colby for those who qualify under income guidelines.
