The banks of Atwood Lake were filled with music, worship, and community spirit last night as an estimated 800 to 1,000 people gathered for the annual *Worship by the Water* concert. With chairs and blankets spread across the lawn near the lake’s gazebo and bandshell, the setting could not have been more perfect-still, calm, and bathed in a late summer glow.
The evening began at 6:30 p.m. with Allison Eide, whose soaring vocals and piano performance set a beautiful tone for the night. Next came Cade Thompson and his band, bringing an energetic set that had the crowd clapping, singing, and even laughing when he stepped down from the stage to high-five, fist bump, and hug concertgoers.
As the sun dipped low, Ben Fuller closed out the evening with a powerful performance. Fuller has become a familiar face at *Worship by the Water*, performing nearly every year since the event began. His absence in 2024 due to illness was felt, but his return this year was celebrated by many. Since emerging in 2022 with his breakout single “Who I Am,” Fuller’s career has continued to grow—touring nationally, sharing stages with some of the biggest names in Christian music, and inspiring audiences with his raw, personal testimony woven into his songs.
This event, made possible through grants and generous donations, is led by the Worship by the Water 501(c) committee headed by Orrin Holle, Angie Gaede, and a dedicated team. The addition of food trucks this year proved to be a big success, drawing long lines and plenty of smiles.
More than just a concert, *Worship by the Water* continues to fulfill its mission: *“Giving those in our rural communities the opportunity to be encouraged by Jesus.”* With each year’s growth, it has become a powerful tradition for Northwest Kansas—an evening of great music, heartfelt worship, and neighbors coming together in faith and fellowship.
