Wow oh WOW is right! The very first KISS (Kids Invite Someone Special) Dance lit up the City Limits Convention Center on Sunday, April 6—and what an afternoon it was!
From the moment the music started, it was clear: this was one for the memory books!
Nearly 100 kids and their favorite people—moms, dads, grandparents, siblings, and more—showed up in their Sunday best for an afternoon of laughter, snacks, and non-stop dancing. With lanterns and lights from the previous night’s “Tangled” prom theme still twinkling above, the venue looked straight out of a fairy tale.
And speaking of fairy tales, let’s talk about those outfits! There were sparkly dresses, dapper little dudes in boutonnieres, and more than a few corsages given from “special someones.” It was heart-melting stuff, folks.
🎶 The music? Perfection. Thanks to Howard from MC Entertainment DJs & Photo Booth for allowing NWKS Radio's Chad and Joel DJ with his equipment, the beats were pumping all afternoon long. From the Hokey Pokey and YMCA to slow dances and the ever-iconic Cha-Cha Slide, the floor stayed packed.
📸 The photo booth was a huge hit (who doesn’t love a good prop?), and thanks to our amazing volunteers—including helpful Colby sophomores keeping the line dances on point—everything went off without a hitch. Howard from MC Entertainment DJs & Photo Booth donated his time to photo all those crazy kiddos and their "dates"!
🍪 The snack table was buzzing too, with treats, punch, and mouthwatering cookies from Goodies and Things keeping everyone fueled up for the next round of dancing. Thanks to Dana and her kiddos for keeping everyone fueled up with her donated treats!
And best of all? It was all for a great cause—raising funds for the Colby High School Prom Class of 2026! What a fun and meaningful way to make use of all the beautiful prom decorations (major props to the sophomores for that setup—gorgeous!).
The reviews are in, and it’s unanimous: this could easily become an annual tradition. With so many smiles, so much laughter, and so many memories made, we can’t wait to see what next year brings.
