When an EF3 tornado tore through Grinnell, Kansas, on May 18, 2025, it left destruction in its wake—damaging homes, schools, and even the local cemetery. Among the many beloved landmarks impacted was the Cow Paddy Golf Club, a cherished nine-hole course nestled on the north edge of town. But while the tornado may have toppled flags and twisted fairways, it couldn’t shake the spirit of Grinnell.

The community of Grinnell is facing a long road to recovery after the recent tornado. Homes were destroyed. Families are displaced. And now, the rebuilding begins. The Gove County Community Foundation, in partnership with GNWKCF and Grinnell Promoting Pride & Progress (GP3), has created the “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Fund — a special relief effort designed to support both immediate cleanup efforts and long-term recovery for those affected.

After a fast-moving tornado tore through Grinnell on Sunday night, the town of just over 250 homes is rallying to recover. With dozens of homes damaged or destroyed and widespread utility outages, local officials and utility crews are working tirelessly to restore order.
