Carol Sue Dixson was born July 15, 1965, to Donald Lee and LaVay Jean (Huntley) Dixson in Atwood, KS. She passed away August 22, 2026 at UCHealth Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 61.

She graduated from Atwood High School and Kansas Wesleyan University. In 1987 she began teaching 6th grade at Oberlin Elementary School. Carol dedicated her life to sharing her love of math with her students. In the 39 years she taught at OES, she taught well over 1,200 students.

Carol loved growing up on the farm learning, laughing, and working with her parents and her siblings Kevin, Bonnie, Alice and Lyle. After the death of their parents, Carol and her brothers bought the family farm and began raising registered Simmental cattle. In 2001, they started selling bulls through the annual Dixson Farms production sale. For many years she split her time between teaching and the cattle business. In 2026, Carol retired from teaching and moved to Atwood.

Carol was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends. She was devoted to her nieces and nephews. She spent countless hours reading books, playing games (including the dreaded Candy Land), attending concerts, plays, and sports events, and sharing photos and family stories. She was passionate about researching and preserving family history to pass along to future generations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and a special great aunt Evelyn Ploussard.

She is survived by her siblings, Kevin (Abbi) of Atwood, KS, Bonnie (David) Sexson of Weskan, KS, Alice Carter (George) of Jamestown, KS, Lyle (Alisha) of Atwood, KS; nieces and nephews, Kinsey (Daniel) Green, Kylie Dixson(Drew Johnson), Kaedra (Nick) Talbott-Dixson, Tucker (Laura) Sexson, Sage (Brittany) Sexson, Macy (Lissa) Sexson, Jade (Garrett) Nikkel, Sheena Sexson, Doniley Sexson, Chad (Cassandra) Dixson, Darci (Brian) Widener, Brenan Dixson, Braxton (Tayten) Dixson, Beckett Dixson, Brecklyn Dixson, Bennett Dixson; 27 great nieces and nephews. Friends who became family, Sheila (Ron) Jansonius and their daughters Morgan and Molly; Brenda (Tim) Breth and their sons Kyle, Kelden, and Kole; and hundreds of former students.

The funeral service is at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Atwood United Methodist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.
