A 52-year-old Colorado man was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, October 28th, in Gove County. The crash occurred shortly after midnight along Interstate 70 eastbound near mile marker 81.5, approximately five and a half miles east of Oakley.

The crash report states that a 2023 Subaru Outback was traveling eastbound when it entered the south ditch. The vehicle traveled around the end of a bridge guardrail, descended an embankment, and struck a concrete bridge abutment before coming to rest underneath the bridge.

The driver, identified as 52-year-old Joel Lundeen of Breckenridge, Colorado, was wearing a safety restraint and was transported to Gove County Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.

The Kansas Highway Patrol also listed that there was a police pursuit.
