Longtime Sharon Springs, KS resident Louise Denning passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, KS. She was 92 years old.
Louise Eleanor (Laevenstein) Denning was born on March 15, 1933 in Collyer, KS to Michael and Katherine Laevenstein.
Louise attended school in Catholic grade school and Collyer High School.
She married Lawrence Denning July 28, 1952 in Collyer, KS at St. Michaels Catholic Church. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage. To this Union they raised four children Debra, Sheryl, Brenda, and Richard in Sharon Springs, KS.
She loved her family dearly and was always ready to help her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her four children and six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Louise was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church and the altar society in Sharon Springs, KS. She worked at the Prairie Village nursing home 23 years and enjoyed every minute of it. She also volunteered to deliver meals on wheels.
She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, baking, sewing, camping trips, dancing, and leading wedding marchers.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Katherine Laevenstein, her two brothers Virgil and Michael Jr. and her husband Lawrence Denning.
She is survived by her daughters Debra (Jason) Buerge of Fountain, CO, Sheryl Denning of Lawrence, KS, Brenda Rotell of Aurora, CO, and her son Richard (Mary) Denning of Loveland, CO. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marge Ausmus of Winona, KS and brother-in-laws Elmer Denning of Lawrence, KS, and Don (Millie) Denning of Monument, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made out to the Holy Ghost Catholic Church and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
