Lynelle Anne (Lohoefener) Fossum died of cancer surrounded by family in Oakley, KS on October 14th, 2026. She was born April 5, 1967, in Oberlin, Kansas to Jerry and Marcia (Ward) Lohoefener. Lyn grew up riding horses and motorcycles, helping her dad work cattle, and having adventures on the family farm north of town. She stayed a tried and true country girl.
Lyn started her nursing career working as a CNA during high school. She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1985. As a young adult, Lyn traveled and lived in New York City where she worked as a nanny. She moved to Colby, KS to earn her degree and truly start her nursing career as an LPN.
Lyn and Bob Fossum married on June 26, 1993, and Lyn embraced becoming a mom right away with her signature joy and enthusiasm. After several years living in Phoenix, AZ, the family moved home to Oberlin, KS. Lyn went back to college at Fort Hays State University where she obtained her nursing BSN in 2004 and MSN family nurse practitioner and board certification in 2006.
