The Casey Alexander era at Kansas State got off to a disappointing start Tuesday night, as the Wildcats fell to South Dakota State 68-to-66 in Manhattan. K-State rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to build a seven-point lead in the second half, but couldn't hold on. Pop En-Jya led the Wildcats with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Brandon Rechsteiner and Isaiah Abraham each added 16. Davis Kern led South Dakota State with 24 points. The Wildcats return home Friday night to face Cal State Northridge.

The first College Football Playoff rankings of the season are out, and undefeated Miami sits atop the list! Georgia checks in at number two, followed by unbeaten Utah at three and defending national champion Indiana at four. Alabama rounds out the top five, followed by Kentucky, Texas, UCLA, BYU and Ole Miss. One of the biggest surprises? Notre Dame comes in at number eleven, despite being fourth in the AP Poll. Five Big 12 teams made the rankings, led by Utah, with BYU ninth, Texas Tech fifteenth, Houston seventeenth and Arizona twenty-second.
Major League Baseball is proposing a major change to its financial structure, but not until 2028. Owners have offered a hard salary cap of just over 258 million dollars, along with a minimum team payroll of 180 million. The league says delaying implementation would give teams more time to adjust. However, the players' union remains firmly opposed to any salary cap, raising concerns about another potential work stoppage. Baseball's current collective bargaining agreement expires December first, with another lockout looming.
