The Tampa Bay Rays are still alive in the World Series after a dramatic 4-3, 12-inning victory over the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday night.  Milwaukee was three outs away from a championship after Cooper Pratt blasted a go-ahead solo homer in the top of the 12th.  But Tampa Bay answered in the bottom half, as Jonny DeLuca delivered a game-tying single before Ben Williamson drove home the winning run with a walk-off single.  David Hamilton also homered for Milwaukee, but the Brewers' championship celebration will have to wait.  Milwaukee still leads the series three games to one, with Game Five set for Wednesday night in Tampa Bay.

Kansas freshman Tyran Stokes and Nebraska senior Pryce Sandfort are among the players receiving votes for the Associated Press Preseason All-America men's basketball team.  Stokes, the nation's top-ranked recruit and preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year, received six votes from the 58-member media panel. He's the second consecutive number-one recruit to join Bill Self's Jayhawks.  Meanwhile, Sandfort received one vote following a standout season at Nebraska, where he averaged 18.1 points per game and knocked down 129 three-pointers, the second-most in Big Ten history. He helped lead the Huskers to their first-ever Sweet Sixteen appearance.  The five players earning first-team honors were Michigan State's Jeremy Fears Junior, Florida's Thomas Haugh, Vanderbilt's Tyler Tanner, Illinois' David Mirkovic, and Arizona's Motiejus Krivas.

Two Northwest Kansas volleyball teams now know their opponents for this weekend’s Class 1A Division II State Tournament in Emporia.  Cheylin will open pool play Friday against Ingalls, Hodgeman County, and Marais des Cygnes Valley.  Meanwhile, Greeley County will square off against Argonia, Hanover, and Hutchinson Central Christian in its pool.  Both teams punched their tickets to state with sub-state championships over the weekend. The top two teams from each pool will advance to Saturday’s semifinals, with a state championship on the line at White Auditorium in Emporia.

The Colby Community College volleyball team continues to climb the national rankings, moving up one spot to number seven in the latest NJCAA Division One poll. The Trojans are 22-and-4 overall and 13-and-1 in conference play, riding a seven-match winning streak following a five-set victory over Cloud County last week. Now, a massive top-ten showdown awaits Wednesday night as seventh-ranked Colby hosts sixth-ranked Dodge City, with both teams battling atop the KJCCC standings. The Conquistadors enter at 25-and-5 overall and 14-and-1 in conference play and won the first meeting between the two teams in five sets back in September.  Wednesday's match also serves as Sophomore Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the Colby Event Center, with first serve at 6:30 Mountain Time.
