Colby volleyball went 1-and-2 at Saturday’s Liberal Invitational. The Eagles picked up a win over Scott City while dropping matches to Dodge City and host Liberal.

Goodland volleyball finished fourth at Saturday’s Russell Invitational, going 3-and-2 on the day. The Cowgirls picked up wins over Hoisington, Central Plains and Russell before falling to Minneapolis in the semifinals and Hoisington in the third-place match.

Colby CC swept Cloud County on Saturday, pushing the Lady Trojans winning streak to 10 straight.

BASEBALL

A tough weekend for the Royals, who were swept in Pittsburgh and have now lost four straight. Kansas City returns home Tuesday to open a three-game series with the White Sox. Meanwhile, the Rockies took one of three from Seattle and will stay home to open a three-game set with Arizona Tuesday night.

NFL

A winning Sunday for the Chiefs and Broncos. Kansas City improved to 2-and-0, outlasting Indianapolis 33-30 in overtime, as Patrick Mahomes threw for 382 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Denver picked up its first win, rallying from 10 down to beat Jacksonville 20-13, behind 288 passing yards from Bo Nix.

COLLEGE FB-Saturday

Kansas State improved to 3-and-0, beating Tulane 31-20 behind 152 rushing yards and two touchdowns from Avery Johnson. Nebraska also moved to 3-and-0, handling North Dakota 34-7 as Jamal Rule rushed for 119 yards and two scores. Meanwhile, Kansas fell to Arizona State 24-17 at Wembley Stadium in London, while Colorado suffered its first loss, falling at Northwestern 41-7.
