Goodland football opens the season with a gritty road win, edging Cimarron 14–12 in a defensive battle last night. There were 6 combined turnovers and not even 250 yards of offense combined but The Cowboys held off a late Bluejays push to secure a hard‑fought victory and start the year 1–0 for the first time since 2020
Goodland Girls golf finish 2nd at the Hugoton Invitational falling to Syracuse who shot a 183 as a team. Natalie Cure of Goodland wins the tournament with a 41 – 5 over par, coming in 3rd was Sadie Sederstrom who finished with a 42 – 6 over par.
In Cross County Oakley finished 2nd in the Goodland Invitational on the boys side with Jethro Crisler finishing 1st with an 18 minute and 3 second 5000 meter run. Goodland finished 5th as a team. On the girls side Oakley’s Hadlie Younkin and Mackenzie Hubert both finished in the top 5 at the Goodland Invitational that got moved up 7 hours yesterday because of the heat.
Colby Football opens up the season in Holyoke today to take on the Dragons who enter at 0-1 after losing 49-14 last week against Colorado Springs Christian. The Eagles will begin their first game in the Dakota Breuer era as he comes over from being a long time assistant at Republic County. Pregame Show at 6 and the Kickoff at 7 on 100.3 The Ride
Our Area Game of the Week is Back, and it was one of the many games tonight affected by the heat advisory pushing games back from their usual kickoff at 7 central. Rawlins County traveling to St. Francis for a battle of the Yoke Bowl. 7:30 pregame show and 8 oclock Central time kickoff for that game on 97.9 Flyover Country with Lucas Kenney on the call
Carter Jensen powered the Royals past the Marlins 7–3 with a homer, triple, and double, finishing just a single short of the cycle while driving in three runs.
