Cowgirl Golf Looking to Build on State Success in 2026

GOODLAND, Kan. — The Goodland Cowgirls enter the 2026 golf season looking to build on last year’Class 3A state title.

Senior Natalie Cure returns to lead a young Goodland squad after helping the Cowgirls reach state last season, where she also watched her sister, Ali, capture an individual state championship.

Cure said the experience showed her what is possible for golfers from a smaller community.

“We don’t have as many resources, but as long as you set goals and try to achieve those, you can still do big things for yourself,” Cure said.

Cure remained busy during the offseason, competing in Kansas Junior Golf Association events in Garden City, Dodge City and Hays. She also spent time helping younger teammates prepare for the season.

Longtime coach Connie Livengood has just seven golfers on this year’s roster, but believes the Cowgirls have the pieces to develop into a competitive team.

Sadie Sederstrom is expected to play in the No. 2 position, while Alexis Zimmerman and freshman Megan Cure are among those continuing to improve. Bracelyn Enfield, Morgan Price and freshman Krista Evert are also competing for spots in the lineup.

Livengood expects Goodland to improve as the season progresses and believes another trip to state is within reach.

“I think these kids are gonna improve enough that we’re gonna be back at state,” Livengood said. “I really do believe that.”

For Cure, the goal in her final season is to return to state and contend for an individual medal. After battling through an up-and-down state tournament last year, she has set her sights on a top-10 finish.

“I think that’s pretty achievable if I stick with it,” Cure said. “Obviously I would love for our team to get back there.”

While expectations remain high, Cure also wants to enjoy her final season as a Cowgirl.

“This is my last year of high school golf, so I might as well try to cherish it and make as many memories as I can,” Cure said.

Cowgirls open the season on Thursday, September 3rd at the Hugoton Invitational.
