Severe Weather and Strong Winds Possible Across Northwest Kansas and Eastern Colorado

Residents across Northwest Kansas and Eastern Colorado should keep an eye on the weather as the National Weather Service in Goodland is tracking the potential for severe thunderstorms and strong winds tonight and Monday.
According to the latest briefing from the National Weather Service, storms could develop Sunday evening across southeastern Colorado around 8 to 9 p.m. Mountain Time before moving east-northeast. Areas south of I-70 have the greatest chance of seeing stronger storms tonight.
While confidence in storms developing tonight remains low, any storms that do form could produce damaging winds up to 75 mph and possibly a brief tornado or two.

Another round of potential severe weather is expected Monday as a cold front moves through the region. The main window for storms is currently between late morning and early evening. Damaging winds will be the primary concern, with thunderstorm gusts potentially reaching 70 to 80 mph.

Even outside of thunderstorms, strong winds are expected across the area. Widespread gusts of 40 to 55 mph are forecast, with isolated gusts of 60 to 65 mph. Strong northwest winds could continue through Tuesday morning.
Residents should secure outdoor items, use caution when traveling, particularly in high-profile vehicles, and make sure they have a way to receive weather warnings overnight.
Remember, severe weather isn't just a spring and summer concern. Thunderstorms capable of producing severe conditions can happen anytime, even during the first week of November.
