Sherman County Summer Fun: Live Music, Movies, BBQ & More!

There’s no shortage of things to do this month in Sherman County! Jessica from Sherman County Community Development joined Kristina on NWKS Radio this week to highlight a packed schedule of fun, family-friendly events you’ll want to get on your calendar.
Here’s what’s coming up:

🎵 Concert in the Park – June 13
Chambers Park | 6–8 p.m. (MT)Grab your lawn chairs and maybe a picnic basket—live music is back in the park! The Park and Play concert series kicks off with Raquel and the Wild Flowers, a high-energy country group all the way from New York. Bring your own food or keep an eye out for a possible food truck on site. Either way, it’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend.
🏌️♂️ Sweet Smingers Golf Tournament – June 12–14
Sugar Hills Golf CourseGet your team together or come cheer on your favorites at this annual tournament. It's a great chance to enjoy the outdoors and take in some friendly competition on the green.

🎬 Free WWII Movie Series – Saturdays in June
Sherman Theatre | 1:30 p.m. (MT)In honor of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the High Plains Museum is partnering with the Sherman Theatre to offer free Saturday matinees all month long. Each Saturday features a different classic WWII film. Check the museum’s Facebook page or the SCCD page for the full schedule.
🍿 Summer Kids Matinees – Wednesdays in June
Sherman Theatre | 1:30 p.m. (MT)A favorite summer tradition returns! The theatre will also host Wednesday matinees, perfect for kids (and nostalgic parents). These family-friendly movies are a great midweek break from the heat.

US Flag Day Celebration – Saturday, June 14
Chambers Park | 11:30 a.m. (MT)Join the Elks Lodge #1528 for a patriotic Flag Day celebration with free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, drinks, and cookies. The event includes essay readings and a chance to gather in honor of the flag and those who defend it.
🎮 Mario Kart 64 Tournament – June 14
Hosted by Goodland Games, this blast from the past invites gamers of all ages to put their skills to the test. Details can be found on the Goodland Games Facebook page—mark your calendar and bring your “A” game!
🎶 The Shindig at the Smoky – June 28
Smoky Gardens | 5–8 p.m. (MT)Live music, free shaved ice, and some of the best BBQ around—what’s not to love? Come out for an evening of yard games like cornhole and horseshoes, grab a bite from Smoky Hill BBQ or another local food truck, and enjoy lakeside fun with your neighbors.
