Brenda Lynn Miller (Barnes) age 56, passed away August 19, 2026 after her courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born November 14, 1969 in Fairplay, Colorado to Ronald and Margaret Barnes. She grew up in Como, Colorado and graduated from South Park High School in 1988. She loved participating in all of the school sports and was very involved with numerous high school activities.

Brenda loved raising her two daughters. She homeschooled them for many years and their education was extensive, she taught them reading, writing, and science, from which they both developed a huge love for reading especially. She also taught them to be kind, to help others, to watch wildlife, enjoy the small moments, and cherish their loved ones. She was a shining example of “help your neighbor”. She volunteered with the South Park Senior Center to help elderly neighbors. She had such a huge love for people and a compassionate heart.

She also loved spending time outdoors and particularly enjoyed walking, hiking, hunting, skiing, and gardening. She treasured spending time in Como with loved ones and her two sweet dogs.

Brenda worked in the restaurant industry for many years and owned The Firefly Restaurant in Salida, Colorado. She loved talking with people while serving food and getting to know them. She knew the value of a warm plate of food and a willing ear to listen.

She will be greatly missed. Her faith in the Lord carried her through the hard days and the joyful ones and she is in the presence of Jesus now.

Brenda is survived by her parents, Ronald and Margaret Barnes; her two daughters, Lorelei Miller and Michelle (Chance) Marble; two grandsons; her brother and sister; along with nieces, a nephew, and many beloved extended family members.

Memorial contributions may be made out to the Brenda Miller Memorial Fund and may be sent to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
