Injury Crash Reported North of Colby Friday Night

The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash Friday night, October 17, 2025, north of Colby on K-25.

According to the crash log, the accident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. near milepost 204, about seven miles north of Colby. A 2012 GMC Sierra, driven by 68-year-old Warren D. Barnett of Colby, was traveling northbound when it struck the rear of a 1997 Chevrolet truck that was also headed north and slowing down to make a right turn onto County Road AA.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 67-year-old Daniel L. Urban of Colby, sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Citizen’s Medical Center in Colby. Barnett was listed as having no apparent injuries.

Both drivers were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The vehicles were removed from the scene by Butch’s Body Shop and towed to a local lot. The crash remains under investigation by Trooper K142 of the Kansas Highway Patrol.
