Pete D. Poholek

March 11, 1946 - February 26, 2026

Peter (Pete) David Poholek, a master tradesman and a fixture in our neighborhood who lived his life with steady hands and a generous heart, passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 79.

Pete was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, he truly became a part of the fabric of Goodland over the many years he lived here. As a master tradesman, Pete was the man you could always find in his garage, "performing projects" with a meticulous eye and a professional touch. Whether he was troubleshooting a complex mechanical problem or building something new, his garage was more than just a workshop—it was a place where he shared his time, his deep expertise, and his talent.

Pete believed that the best way to show friendship was through a home-cooked meal. He loved to cook for those around him, and those in our community will remember the hospitality he showed at his table.

When he wasn't working with his hands or in the kitchen, he found joy in the simple things: the familiar melodies he played on his fiddle and the timeless stories of classic movies.

Above all else, Pete’s greatest pride and joy was being a father to his son, David. He was a dedicated mentor who took immense pride in passing down his wisdom and the trade skills he had honed over a lifetime. The bond they shared was the center of his world, and Pete led by example—showing what it meant to be a man of integrity, skill, and kindness.

Pete is survived by his son, David, and the close friends and neighbors who will miss his expertise, his cooking, and the steady, reliable presence he brought to the community

Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, Colorado.

The family strongly urges donations to the memorial fund, as they are not wanting any plants or flowers sent. Memorial contributions may be made out to the Goodland Gun Club and may be sent to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
