Unofficial Area Election Results

Elections happened nationwide yesterday, here's results on some of those in the area.

In Oakley, Russ Kahle ran unopposed for mayor, receiving every vote save for a few write-ins. Dewight Williams beat out Randy Huff for mayor in Rexford, with other votes going to write-ins.


Ward 1 of Colby’s City Council was voted on, with Ericka Nicholson running unopposed save for 9 write-in votes. She received 144 votes to win her spot. Michelle Morris beat W.G. Romine II in the second ward of Colby’s City Council, garnering 121 votes over Romine’s 77. In Colby’s third ward, Bruce Hansen got 235 votes against one write-in to win that part of city council. Jerad Johnson beat out Samantha Shepherd in Colby’s fourth ward 174-68.


Here’s some more unofficial election results from the area. 3 City Council spots in Brewster were voted on, with Don Allen, Dwayne Rudolph and Donita J. Baird winning the spots over Taylor Aschenbrenner.


Two City Council spots were up in Oakley, Brian Joseph and Doug Reed won each spot over Tom Wiens and Doug Reed. The Oakley USD 274's $27.9 million bond passed with 51.1% of the vote. Also, Oakley's 1% to help with the bond mentioned previously passed with 58.9% of the vote.


Rexford had two City Council spots up as well, with Jordan Spresser and Parker Christensen running unopposed and taking the two spots.


School district offices for USD 315 were voted on, with Dan Kuhlman, Michael Juenemann and Mike Hamilton taking the three spots.


Four people ran unopposed for four School District Office 4-year term spots in USD 316, with Matt Cheney, Chad Focke, Rick Lewis and Chad Wark getting the spots. In the same district, Melissa Wessel ran unopposed for the 2-year term position.


Quinton Cook, Jason Berry and Carolyn Hackney were elected to Oberlin City Council, and Decatur County's $16.5 million school bond issue failed, with only 42.7% of voters in favor.


Darrin Herl, Mitchell Baalmann and Erika Carter were elected to the Hoxie Board of Education.


Barb Billinger and Kadyn Fuller were elected to the Park City Council, and Marilyn Mong and Darren Racette were elected to the Grianfield City Council.


The USD 241 Wallace County Board of Education elected Bruce McKain, Darrin and Dan Brooks.


Then, the Liquor By the Drink law was passed in Wallace County with 64.9% of the vote and in Thomas County with 56.5% of the vote, which allows businesses to sell alcohol without the sale of food.


Trevor Linton, Katherine Franklin, Dallas Berndt and Michaela Kaus were elected to the Sherman County Board of Education. There was a bond passed in the county as well, a $4 million bond in USD 352 that came through with 54.3% of the vote.


A vote for a .25% sales tax was up in Sherman County as well, and it passed with 56.1% of the vote.
