USD 105 Rawlins County Schools marked a major construction milestone today (Tuesday, September 29th) with a topping out ceremony at the site of the new school, celebrating the placement of the final steel beam.

Students, staff, board members, and community members gathered as the beam, carrying an American flag, a Buffaloes banner, and an evergreen tree, was hoisted into place. Raising the flag and tree on the last beam is a long-standing construction tradition that marks the completion of the structural frame and is meant to bring good luck to the building and everyone who will use it.

Superintendent Eric Stoddard welcomed guests and spoke about what the project means for students and the community. "This is more than a new school building. It is a symbol of what can happen when a community comes together, perseveres through adversity, and believes in its future."

Board of Education President Megan Rippe thanked the community for its support and recognized the work of the district's staff and the construction team. "This is a major investment in the future of our district and our community."

McCown Gordon Construction Project Manager Zach Mitchel spoke on behalf of the

construction team, thanking the crews on site and the district for its partnership. "Thank you to

the school district, thank you to the community for inviting us in."
