Citizens Health Partners with KU Cancer Center, Introduces HOPE on Wheels Mobile Cancer Screening Unit

Citizens Health announced an exciting new partnership with The University of Kansas Cancer Center during an in-person press conference Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the new Citizens Health hospital in Colby. The partnership is aimed at expanding access to cancer prevention, education, and screening services for residents across northwest Kansas.

As part of the announcement, community members had the opportunity to tour the Masonic Cancer Alliance's HOPE on Wheels mobile cancer screening unit, a 42-foot state-of-the-art vehicle designed to bring cancer screening services directly to communities throughout Kansas and Missouri.

HOPE on Wheels, which stands for Health Outreach, Prevention, and Education, was made possible through funding from the Kansas Masonic Foundation. Vehicle operations are supported through a philanthropic gift from the Cinelli Family Foundation.

The mobile unit is equipped with:

• A full mammography suite

• Private consultation room

• Exam room

• Blood draw (phlebotomy) station

• Medical refrigerator

• Screening and dressing area

• Restroom

The goal of HOPE on Wheels is to increase awareness of cancer prevention while expanding access to lifesaving screenings for underserved communities at no cost to patients.

FREE screening opportunities and resources available through the mobile unit include:

• Mammograms

• Colorectal cancer take-home screening kits

• Prostate cancer screenings

• Skin cancer screenings

• Radon home test kits

• Genetic testing information

• Educational materials focused on cancer prevention and early detection

The Masonic Cancer Alliance, the outreach network of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, is using the mobile unit to deliver screenings and educational programs throughout Kansas and 18 counties in western Missouri. The program is designed to make preventive care more accessible by bringing services directly to local communities.

Residents won't have to wait long for another opportunity to visit the mobile clinic. HOPE on Wheels is scheduled to return to Colby on October 24, giving area residents another chance to take advantage of these free cancer screening services.

Early detection remains one of the most effective tools in fighting cancer, and partnerships like the one announced Wednesday between Citizens Health and The University of Kansas Cancer Center will help make preventive care more convenient and accessible for people across northwest Kansas.
