NWKS Radio Adds Area Game of the Week for 2026 Football Season

Friday nights are getting even bigger on NWKS Radio this fall!

NWKS Radio is expanding its high school football coverage for the 2026 season with the addition of the Area Game of the Week, airing Friday nights on FlyOver Country 97.9 with Lucas Kenney on the call.

Each week, Lucas will head to a different matchup somewhere across the NWKS Radio listening area, giving more local schools, players and communities a chance to be featured on the radio.

The Area Game of the Week will feature teams from across northwest Kansas, including Hoxie, Oakley, St. Francis, Wallace County, Rawlins County, Golden Plains, Weskan, Brewster, Winona, Triplains, Cheylin, Decatur Community, Quinter and Wheatland-Grinnell.

The schedule is set, and each Friday night will bring a new matchup featuring one or more area teams.

And this isn't just kickoff-to-final-whistle coverage. Lucas will bring listeners the complete Friday night experience with pregame interviews, stats and storylines, live play-by-play and postgame interviews and reaction.

The new Area Game of the Week adds another piece to an already busy Friday night football lineup for NWKS Radio.

Colby Eagle football returns to 100.3 The Ride this season with Garrett Wellbrock, the new Voice of the Eagles.

In Goodland, award-winning sportscaster Ross Volkmer will once again follow the Goodland Cowboys throughout the season on RockIt 102.5.

With the addition of the Area Game of the Week, NWKS Radio will now have three crews hitting the road on Friday nights to bring local high school football to listeners across the region.
