The Royals’ nine-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night with a 3-0 loss at Toronto. Kansas City was held to six hits as seven Blue Jays pitchers combined on the shutout. Nathan Lukes provided all the offense with a three-run homer off Randy Dobnak in the fourth inning. The Royals will look to bounce back and take the series Thursday with Noah Cameron on the mound.
The Rockies’ offense exploded Wednesday night in a 13-1 rout of Washington. Connor Norby delivered the biggest blow with a grand slam and finished with five RBIs, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Troy Johnston, Cole Carrigg and Hunter Goodman also homered, with Goodman launching his team-leading 36th of the season. Tanner Gordon was outstanding on the mound, allowing just one run over seven innings as Colorado picked up its second straight win.
Colby Community College volleyball is back in action today as the Trojans open the Cheyenne Invitational against New Mexico Military Institute. Colby enters at 3-and-1 following a strong opening weekend, led by KJCCC Players of the Week Ella Dridi and Anita Ferri. New Mexico Military Institute comes in at 2-and-2. First serve is set for 5:30 Central this evening in Cheyenne.
