Decatur Community swept Hoxie & beat W/G in three sets at the Hoxie Tri. 

Oakley Tri: The Lady Plainsmen swept both Scott City & Wallace County.

Colby Lady Eagle VB team went 2-3 at the Norton Tournament on Saturday.

Brewster finished 2-1 at the Bethune Tournament on Saturday. 

Colby CC volleyball finished its weekend at the Cheyenne Invitational, going 1-2 after coming from behind to win in five sets over New Mexico Military on Thursday.  CCC was swept by Snow College but won in straight sets over Laramie County on Friday, then lost in five sets to Casper College on Saturday.  Lady Trojans are now 5-3 on the year heading into their conference opener against Pratt on Wednesday. 

The Royals’ hot stretch came to a rough end Sunday with an 11-1 loss at Cleveland. Seth Lugo struggled, allowing nine runs on nine hits in just three-and-two-thirds innings, while Salvador Perez drove in Kansas City’s only run. The loss snapped a stretch in which the Royals had won 12 of their previous 13 games, although Kansas City still took the series from Cleveland. The Royals are off Monday before opening a series against Miami Tuesday.

The Rockies came up just short Sunday, falling to Atlanta 3-2 in 10 innings. Colorado tied the game in the eighth on an RBI single from Connor Norby, while Jake McCarthy homered earlier in the day. Ryan Feltner followed with four scoreless innings before Atlanta walked it off in the 10th. The Rockies now return home to open a series against Baltimore tonight.

The Broncos closed out the preseason in impressive fashion, rolling past Minnesota 34-6 Friday night. Sam Ehlinger threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns, including an 88-yard strike to rookie tight end Justin Joly. Cody Schrader also impressed with 132 total yards and a touchdown. Denver finishes the preseason 2-and-1 and now turns its attention to Kansas City in the season opener September 14th.

The Chiefs wrapped up the preseason with a 9-9 tie against defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Friday night at Arrowhead. Rookie Garrett Nussmeier threw for 198 yards but Kansas City was held without a touchdown, settling for three Harrison Butker field goals. 

The Chiefs will host the Broncos in the regular season opener on September 14th.
