A big development for Kansas basketball, as Tre White has been granted a preliminary injunction against the NCAA, making him immediately eligible for the 2026-27 season. White is among more than 80 athletes included in the Indiana court ruling, which allows them to compete while the case continues. The ruling also temporarily opens the transfer portal for those players. White has not yet announced where he intends to play this season.

Kansas volleyball will honor its winningest coach Friday night, officially naming the court at Hore-shh Family Volleyball Arena “Ray Bechard Court.” Bechard, a Western Kansas native who grew up and attended school in Grinnell, retired after the 2024 season following 27 years leading the Jayhawks. He finished with 496 wins, 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, a 2015 Final Four and the 2016 Big 12 Championship. The dedication will take place prior to Kansas’ match against Houston.

BASEBALL

The Royals snapped a five-game losing streak Wednesday night, beating the White Sox 5-4 in Kansas City. Miguel Garcia had three hits and three RBI, including the go-ahead RBI double in the seventh inning. Carter Jensen added three hits, while Steven Cruz earned his eighth save. The win also prevented Chicago from clinching a playoff spot. The series wraps up this afternoon with Randy Dobnak starting for Kansas City. Listen on KXXX.

The Rockies fell to Arizona 5-3 Wednesday night at Coors Field. A first-inning error by Zac Veen helped the Diamondbacks score four unearned runs, but rookie starter Mason Adams settled in and retired 13 straight at one point. Ezequiel Tovar homered in the eighth, but Colorado’s ninth-inning rally came up short. The Rockies wrap up their home schedule this afternoon.

NFL

Week Three of the NFL season kicks off Thursday night as the 0-and-2 Atlanta Falcons visit the 1-and-1 Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Atlanta will turn to Michael Penix Junior, who makes his season debut after returning from a torn ACL, while Green Bay comes off a 20-17 overtime win over the Jets. Kickoff is set for 6:15 Mountain on Prime Video.
