

Project Frontier Launches “Our Town, Our School, Our Story” Celebration Across Northwest Kansas
Project Frontier is bringing mental health resources to schools across Northwest Kansas while launching the “Our Town, Our School, Our Story” campaign. Students, staff, and communities are encouraged to share what makes their schools special. The district with the most submissions by May 1, 2026 will be named “Most School Pride in NW Kansas” and receive a banner.


Resurfacing underway on K-27
Work has started to resurface a 16.5-mile portion of K-27 in Sherman County.
The Kansas Department of Transportation project will consist of a mill and overlay on the roadway starting at the K-27/U.S. 24 Business junction in Goodland and extending north to the Cheyenne County line. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in areas where crews are actively working and directed through the construction zone by flaggers and a pilot car during daylight hours. Delays of up to 15 min

🚨 Injury Crash Reported North of Colby on U.S. 83
Injury crash reported north of Colby on U.S. Highway 83 at County Road 31. A Dodge Durango rolled after leaving a field access road near McCarty Dairy. The Colby driver was taken to Logan County Hospital in Oakley with minor injuries, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.


U.S. 283 railroad crossing to close for repairs in WaKeeney
The Union Pacific Railroad crossing on U.S. 283 in WaKeeney is scheduled to close for repairs March 21-23.
U.S. 283 will be closed at the crossing. Through traffic will be detoured on I-70, K-23 and U.S. 24. Union Pacific and its traffic control subcontractor will oversee the crossing repairs and detour signing.
Local access will remain available for residents and businesses on U.S. 283 up to the crossing.

High Winds Contribute to Two Injury Crashes on Interstate 70 in Western Kansas
High winds across western Kansas on March 15 caused two injury crashes on Interstate 70 in Gove and Trego counties. Gusts reached up to 67 mph as a pickup towing a trailer rolled in Gove County and a semi overturned in Trego County. Drivers from Colorado and Missouri were hospitalized with injuries. A High Wind Warning was in effect across Northwest Kansas at the time of the crashes.
