A bright October morning and plenty of pink filled the air as Goodland Regional Medical Center (GRMC) hosted its annual 5K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness on Saturday, October 18. The weather cooperated, the wind stayed calm, and spirits were high as community members came together to celebrate survivors, honor loved ones, and raise funds for women’s health services.

A Texas man was injured early Monday morning in a rollover crash on K-27 in Wallace County, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 2:04 a.m. on October 20, 2025, approximately 13 miles north of Sharon Springs.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported an injury crash late Friday night, October 17, 2025, on U.S. Highway 36, approximately 3.5 miles west of U.S. 283 near Norton. According to the KHP crash log, the accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by 20-year-old Jonah M. The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash Friday night, October 17, 2025, north of Colby on K-25. According to the crash log, the accident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. near milepost 204, about seven miles north of Colby. A 2012 GMC Sierra, driven by 68-year-old Warren D. Barnett of Colby, was traveling northbound when it struck the rear of a 1997 Chevrolet truck that was also headed north and slowing down to make a right turn onto County Road AA.

John Lee “Jack” Ostmeyer, 85, of Oakley, died Friday, October 17, 2025. Jack was born July 9, 1940, in Oakley, the son of Tony and Armella (Schwebach) Ostmeyer. Jack was a proud Oakley Plainsman graduating with the class of 1958. Jack married Billi Munk in 1960. Together they had three sons, Jeff, Pat, and Todd. After Billi's passing in 1967 when the boys were 3, 4, and 6, he married Ann (Mannebach-Ryan) in 1969 to which two children, Lisa and Rex were born.
