Emergency Crews Respond to Second Wallace County Crash Early Monday
The first accident occurred shortly after midnight on County Road 6, approximately 2.2 miles south of Highway 40 or just north of the intersection with Jackrabbit Road.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported an injury crash late Friday night, October 17, 2025, on U.S. Highway 36, approximately 3.5 miles west of U.S. 283 near Norton.

The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash Friday night, October 17, 2025, north of Colby on K-25.
According to the crash log, the accident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. near milepost 204, about seven miles north of Colby. A 2012 GMC Sierra, driven by 68-year-old Warren D. Barnett of Colby, was traveling northbound when it struck the rear of a 1997 Chevrolet truck that was also headed north and slowing down to make a right turn onto County Road AA.

John Lee “Jack” Ostmeyer, 85, of Oakley, died Friday, October 17, 2025.
Jack was born July 9, 1940, in Oakley, the son of Tony and Armella (Schwebach) Ostmeyer. Jack was a proud Oakley Plainsman graduating with the class of 1958.
